On September 25, 2024, the Faculty of Engineering at Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Dean, and Prof. Dr. Wanida Kanarkard, Vice Dean for Research, Innovation and International Affairs, welcomed Dr. Taketoshi MINATO from the Institute for Molecular Science, Japan. Dr. Minato is a recipient of the KKU Inbound Visiting Scholar program, which supports international experts. His visit focuses on teaching and conducting collaborative research with the Chemical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering, KKU.
Dr. Minato’s visit is coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sutasinee Neramittagapong, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arthit Neramittagapong, Chair of the Chemical Engineering Undergraduate Program. During his stay, Dr. Minato will be involved in teaching various courses such as Catalyst Sciences, Pollution Prevention in Chemical Processes, and Chemical Engineering Project. He will also conduct research on the topic “Investigation of Catalytic Reaction of Biomass and Sugar for Sustainable Energies,” with plans to co-author at least three research papers.
Additionally, Dr. Minato has secured funding for two KKU Engineering students to conduct research at the Institute for Molecular Science in Japan for eight months. This funding covers personal expenses, accommodation, and travel costs, providing an excellent opportunity for students to gain international research experience and develop their skills abroad.
This collaboration strengthens academic ties between Khon Kaen University and international educational institutions, while also promoting sustainable research development in the field of Chemical Engineering.
