KKU Environmental Engineering Graduate Students Participate in Advanced Technology Study Tour to Enhance Research Skills
Graduate students from the Environmental Engineering Department at Khon Kaen University joined a three-day study tour and academic seminar from June 10-12, 2025, to explore cutting-edge environmental technologies and develop research presentation skills.
The program, led by Dr. Tippawan Singhopon and Associate Professor Rattabal Kanphonoi, aimed to expose master's and doctoral students to innovative solutions for environmental challenges through hands-on learning experiences.
Day 1: Transforming Waste into Energy
On June 10, students visited the Biofuel and Biomass Energy Center at Chulalongkorn University in Saraburi Province. They explored advanced processes, including Pyrolysis, Gasification, and Fischer Tropsch synthesis, for converting biomass and plastic waste into solid fuels, gases, and value-added products.
Day 2: Exploring Nanotechnology Innovations
June 11 featured a comprehensive tour of the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) at NSTDA in Pathum Thani, where students experienced four key technological areas:
Water Quality Innovation Clinic: Advanced wastewater treatment systems using nano-catalysis technology
Contamination Detection Technology: Nano-sensor systems for detecting chemicals, heavy metals, and microorganisms
NanoCoating Technology Advanced materials for enhanced durability and performance
Pilot Plant Operations: Food waste management systems and thermal CO2 processes
Day 3: Research Presentation Skills Development
The final day focused on a "Design Thinking Product and Service" workshop, training students in effective research pitching techniques essential for academic and industry communication.
