Major design experience at ENV EN
The major design experience is a critical component of Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accreditation. In the final year of the Environmental Engineering program at KKU, students fulfill this requirement through the course EN614999 – Environmental Engineering Project. This capstone course requires students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the curriculum to solve complex, real-world environmental engineering problems, typically those with multiple possible solutions. The course culminates in open-ended design projects that incorporate legal and regulatory considerations, the selection of appropriate design criteria, detailed technical calculations, professional technical writing, and teamwork. Students also develop comprehensive project proposals, perform cost estimates, deliver oral presentations, posters, and technical reports.
