Unleashing Startup Potential: KKU Engineering Department Holds Hackathon Challenge 2023 for Computer Engineering Students

The Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with Origin Property Public Company Limited, is all set to host the “Unleashing Start-up Potential: Hackathon Challenge 2023” exclusively for computer engineering students. The event aims to provide a platform for students to cultivate their teamwork and brainstorming skills and to create innovative business ideas within a constrained time and resource environment. This year’s theme is “Revolutionizing Living Spaces with IoT and AI.” The competition features a total prize money of more than 60,000 Baht, with the winning team receiving the unique opportunity to convert their project into a startup with the support of Origin Property Public Company Limited. The event is an exceptional opportunity for computer engineering students to showcase their skills, unleash their entrepreneurial spirit, and create revolutionary solutions that can transform the way we live.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Khunboa, the Department of Computer Engineering, “Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things are rapidly developing technologies that play a significant role in our daily lives. They can be applied in various engineering fields to enhance development potential and solve problems, making it necessary to promote their use and learn how to apply them for broad benefits. Therefore, the Department of Computer Engineering has collaborated with Origin Property Public Company Limited to organize the Hackathon Challenge 2023 competition, allowing students from undergraduate to graduate levels to bring their knowledge to develop and collaborate with other fields. The competition provides interesting problem statements for participants to learn and solve problems in various dimensions, as well as collaborate with private companies to gain experience and receive advice from industry professionals. The competition aims to generate innovation that can be used for business development and has attracted a large number of students to participate.”

In addition to the competition, ENKKU emphasizes the importance of education and encourages students to participate in various engineering skill competitions to gain real-world experience. Through these competitions, students can apply their knowledge and develop their skills in innovation. They can also learn to plan and work collaboratively under pressure, resulting in new knowledge and expertise that will benefit them in the future.

The first prize went to Team Shark Carry, consisting of Mr. Wisarut Hanglee, Mr. Tanthai Jittapatum, Mr. Kritaphak Srikaew, Miss Sashithorn Kontong, and Mr. Saharat Wanana.

The second prize went to Team Bar B Gon Volley, consisting of Mr. Pholaphan Suntaraphat, Miss Pitchakorn Towaranat, Mr. Srichach Boonon, Mr. Nanthawat Kotraseeha, and Mr. Puwarin Promkotra.

The third prize went to Team Quaso, consisting of Mr. Nawaphon Sombattheera, Mr. Methi Yingyongwatthana, Miss Kanokon Chompu, Miss Nannapas Sritong, and Mr. Subsathit Yangwaeng.
