The Department of Mechanical Engineering which was established in 1975 offers both undergraduate and post-graduate programs. The bachelor’s degree program focuses on learning and applying scientific knowledge and technology to actual applications. The graduates will be able to design, build, control, test and manufacture mechanical systems and equipment such as machines, air conditioning and heating systems, power plants, and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. The bachelor’s degree program is offered as a regular program and a special program. The special program which is conducted in evenings and weekends takes in both high school graduates and graduates from vocational colleges.
At the post-graduate level, both master’s and doctoral degree programs are offered. For the master’s degree program, students need to complete both coursework and a thesis. This normally takes two years to complete. There are two doctoral degree programs which lead to the award of Doctor of Philosophy. One is a regular program and the other is an international program for international students. Thai student with English proficiency can also enroll in the international program.
Courses and programs of the Department are designed by qualified and experienced faculty of the Department with inputs from experts external to the University. These experts are drawn from industries as well as academics from other universities.
Other important missions of the Department are to serve the community and conduct research in the areas pertaining to the need of the community. The Department has focused on the pursuit of the main missions of the Faculty of Engineering for thirty – three years and will continue to do so in producing high quality graduates and producing good research for the development of the region and the country.
