The Faculty of Engineering organized the “One Day Trip: Walking with Dinosaurs” activity to provide opportunities for both international and Thai students to learn about the world’s heritage and the culture of the Northeastern region.

On March 2, 2024, the International Affairs section, in collaboration with the Student Development section of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, organized the “One Day Trip: Walking with Dinosaurs.” Thirty students, comprising both Thai and international students, visited Tan Khun Phan Din Farm, Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, and Phu Wiang National Park. During the trip, students gained knowledge on various subjects to enrich their life experiences, such as learning about the concept of “Tourism for all” and traditional earthen house construction techniques, led by Mr. Saengpet Tantaatipanit, the owner of Tan Khun Phan Din Farm and an alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, (ENKKU23).

Following this, the students visited the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, where they learned about the excavation of the first dinosaur fossils in Khon Kaen province. Moreover, they had the opportunity to observe real dinosaur footprints at Phu Wiang National Park. Additionally, the students explored the largest rubber tree in Southeast Asia and experienced “wild eating (Kin Khao Pa),” a local tradition of venturing into the forest to find food or relax, which involved wrapping meals by banana leaves to enjoy amidst the natural surroundings, promoting relaxation and immersion in nature.

Subsequently, the students enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of Phu Wiang National Park and relaxed at the “Chom Ta Wan Cliff” At the conclusion of the activity, students were given the opportunity to share their learning experiences of the day in English.

The objective of the program is to provide both Thai and international students with an international atmosphere, as well as opportunities to learn about foreign cultures and Thai culture. This aims to contribute to the internationalization of the faculty and the development of globally recognized institutions, fostering global citizenship, and further developing the faculty into an internationally reputable institution.
