Department of Chemical Engineering

Background

The Chemical Engineering Department at Khon Kaen University was established in 1984 as part of the 4th National Economic and Social Development Plan (1977-1981). Initially introducing the Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering program in 1984, the department received accreditation from the Council of Engineers Thailand (COET) from the outset.

In response to the increasing number of graduates working internationally, an international program delivered in English within the chemical engineering department was introduced in 2018. The first cohort of students graduated from the chemical engineering international program in 2021. However, as part of a comprehensive review in 2022, the program changed the international program to the chemical process engineering program. The mode of delivery remains in English.

The revised programs, resulting from the comprehensive review, obtained accreditation from the Engineering Council of Thailand on October 9, 2023. Notably, the program continues to award the Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering. The last general review occurred in 2022, marking a pivotal evolution of the program.
