Welcome to ENV EN KKU: Explore Our New Unit Lab!

Today, we’re excited to give you a tour of our brand-new Unit Lab (Laboratory for Unit Operation and Unit Processes)! This state-of-the-art lab, completed in June 2024, is now open for hands-on learning in Environmental Engineering.

Here’s what our students get to explore in this innovative space:

Lab 1: Cyclone – Learn how to separate particulate matter from the air, useful for air pollution control.

Lab 2: Ion Exchange – Discover the water hardness removal process using ion exchange resins for water and wastewater treatment.

Lab 3: Granular Filtration – Explore the process of turbidity removal through filtration and examine both head loss in filter media and the filter backwash process.

Lab 4: Continuous Sedimentation – Gain an understanding of how suspended solids are removed from water through the sedimentation process and its application in water treatment.

Lab 5: Gas Absorption – Explore the process of gas absorption in a packed column for air pollution control.

Lab 6: Filter Press – Learn how to operate a filter press for sludge dewatering and measure the resistance of the filter cake.

These new labs were made possible thanks to the generous support from the Faculty of Engineering and our alumni, helping us meet international standards like ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). We’ve even upgraded the lab with air conditioning to enhance the learning experience!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this dream a reality. We’re committed to continuously improving our curriculum and facilities to prepare our students for the real world.
